Mérida, Mexico 2025
I am a Canadian artist living in the Yucatan, Mexico, working with various mediums although most often acrylic paint on canvas.

I revel in and marvel at colour, right angles, soft lines, blue skies, stark shadows, and intense contrasts. My focus is on expressing the art and soul among the myriad layers of life. Themes of connection, solitude, stillness and stoic vacancy are what fascinate my imagination. I work with places as living narratives--vibrant visual encounters in my daily routine or travels, which leave me with a sense of admiration for the simplicity in the everyday.

My art is inspired by landscapes, architecture, and environments that hold memory and meaning for me. My painting process begins with reference to photos I have taken, to reinterpret the emotion and mystery I have experienced, moments that have made me forget everything else except for the humble beauty surrounding me. Through careful observation and layered detail, I capture the essence of a location--not just its physical form, but its atmosphere, history and emotional resonance. My style is rooted in storytelling through place, inviting the viewers to step into a scene and feel its presence.
